Traditions of heart welcoming the pilgrims, diplomats, aristocrats, seafarers and other wanderers have existed in Perast for centuries, long before online booking platforms and even world wide web were created.
Bright bonfires, prototypes of modern lighthouses, were lit on these shores by locals even at ancient times, assisting the Illyrian tribes' ships find the way. And medieval legends say that in front of St Nicholas church there was a pillar, and on its top any wanderer could always find a jug full of wine to quench thirst. So all the time, starting from the Perast settlement foundation there was someone who took care of visitors.
